Hydration & Weight Certification Calculator
NFHS-compliant tools for minimum weight certification, descent planning, and hydration testing.
How It Works
NFHS rules require wrestlers to maintain a minimum body fat of 7% for males and 12% for females. This calculator determines your minimum certifiable weight based on your current weight and body fat percentage.
Body fat is measured during official assessment using skin calipers, bioelectrical impedance, or other approved methods.
About NFHS Weight Certification
The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) mandates a weight certification program to protect wrestler health. Key requirements include:
- Hydration Test: Urine specific gravity must be ≤ 1.025
- Body Composition: Minimum 7% body fat (males) or 12% (females)
- Weight Loss Rate: Maximum 1.5% of alpha weight per week
- Certification Timing: Must be completed before first competition
This calculator is for educational purposes only. Actual certification must be performed by approved assessors and licensed healthcare providers.
